Change admin email

Good to know before you start: changing this email only changes where WordPress sends site admin notices (like "a plugin needs updating"). It does not change the email you log in to your dashboard with, and it does not change the address that gets your lead notifications from the contact form — that's a separate setting called "Lead notification email," set in the Website Editor's Global Values. Also, the change applies right away — you don't need to confirm it by clicking a link in an email.

Where your admin email starts out

When your site is first built, we set the WordPress admin email to the email address on your account. You don't need to set it yourself — but you can change it any time using the steps below.

How to change it

  1. Log in to WP Admin. You can find the link and the login on your site page, under WordPress Access.
  2. Go to Settings, then General.
  3. Find the Administration Email Address field.
  4. Type in the new email address.
  5. Click Save Changes.

That's it — the new address takes effect as soon as you save. There's no confirmation email to look for and no link to click.

Test it

Go back to Settings > General. Check that the Administration Email Address field shows your new address.
