Editing basics
If you have a website through RuufPro, it comes with a real WordPress site behind it. You don't edit it on WordPress's normal "Pages" screen — almost everything lives in one place: the Website Editor.
Opening the Website Editor
- Open your website and click Edit this page in the black bar at the top (you must be logged in to see it). This turns on click-to-edit right on the page.
- Or, in your WordPress admin sidebar, click Website Editor.
- Look at the tabs on the left: Content, Reviews, Photos, Menu, Global Values, Theme.
This page covers what's in Global Values and Theme, plus a few things on the Content tab that aren't Hero, About, Services, or Reviews. For those, see Hero & About, Services & areas, and Reviews, photos & FAQs.
Business info (Global Values)
Click the Global Values tab. You can change:
- Business name, phone, email, address
- Business tagline — a short line about what you do (also shows as your site's tagline)
- Logo — pick or upload an image, or paste an image address directly
- Footer blurb — the short message in your site's footer
- Industry term, business country, site language, and main city
- Weekday, Saturday, and Sunday hours
- Thank-you page heading and message — what people see after they submit your contact form
- Gallery page — a switch that turns your photo gallery page on or off. It starts off; flip it on to make it live at
yoursite.com/gallery/and add a "Gallery" link to your footer.
Click Save when you're done.
Test it: Go to your live site. If you changed the phone number, check the header and footer — both should show the new one.
Site design (Theme)
Click the Theme tab. You can change:
- 11 named colors — Heading, Body, Primary, Primary Hover, Secondary, Bg, Bg Alt, Body Alt, Border, Border Light, Border Alt. Click a color box to pick, or type a hex code like
#1F3E90directly. - Heading font and Body font — on some plans, two dropdowns so you can mix and match.
- Text styles — on some plans, a size and boldness setting for Eyebrow, H1, H2, H3, and Body text.
Leave any box blank and it stays automatic — it keeps following your Primary color or your site's built-in default. Leaving one blank never breaks your site.
Click Save. Test it: check a button or heading on your live site — the color (and font, if you changed it) should match.
Section headings and intros
Each section of your pages — Services, Service Areas, Gallery, Reviews, FAQ — can have its own heading and a short intro line. Find these on the Content tab, next to the section they belong to, or on Global Values for a few site-wide ones:
- Services: heading, intro line, and the link text on each service card (blank keeps "See details")
- Service areas: heading, intro line, and the button text (blank keeps "Every area we cover")
- Gallery: heading, intro line, and a caption per photo (edit the photo in the gallery and look for Caption)
- Reviews: heading and intro line (if your site shows reviews)
- FAQ: heading, intro line, and a heading for the "get answers now" contact box
Call-to-action band
The CTA band is the section at the bottom of your pages that gets people to contact you. On the Global Values tab, look for the Call-to-Action section:
- Main button text (blank keeps "Get a quote")
- CTA band eyebrow — a small line above the button (blank keeps "Ready when you are")
- Phone lead-in — a line above the phone number (blank keeps "Prefer to call?")
- Contact form mode — Form shows your contact form on the same page; Embed shows code from another tool (like a booking widget) instead
- Closing CTA band background style — the look behind the button
Footer and social links
Also on Global Values, under Footer or Business Info:
- Site name and city/state line
- Social links — Facebook, Instagram, Google, LinkedIn, and more
- Footer emergency note — a quick message for urgent situations
- Contact page title, intro, hours heading, and emergency hours
- Commitments heading, description, and image (optional)
Test it: scroll to the footer on any live page and check your social links, location, and emergency note. Visit your Contact page too.
Tagline and favicon
Your tagline is set in Global Values → Business tagline, or in WordPress's own Appearance > Customize > Site Identity — both stay in sync, so use whichever you're already in. Leave Business tagline blank and your site falls back to the Footer blurb field instead.
Your favicon (the small icon in a browser tab) only has one place to edit it: WordPress's Appearance > Customize > Site Identity > Select Site Icon. Use a square image, at least 512×512 pixels, PNG or JPG.
Test it: open your site in a new private/incognito window — browsers cache favicons, so your regular window may keep showing the old one for a while.
SEO title and description
Every page has an SEO title and description — the blue link text and short blurb people see on a Google search result, not text that shows on the page itself.
- Open the page on your website and click Edit this page. This opens the Website Editor for that page.
- Scroll the page panel to the SEO section.
- Type your SEO title (60 characters or fewer) and SEO description (160 or fewer). The counters help you.
- Click Save.
Leave a box empty and the site fills it in from the page's own heading and your business name. Google can take days or weeks to show the new text in search results — that's normal.
